http://www.librarything.com/ : A recent discovery, but rapidly becoming one of the finest things on the web – sort of a MySpace for books. Catalogue your own collection or check other peoples' for recommendations, including that of one of your (ahem!) favourite authors!
http://boingboing.net/: A terrific and constantly-updating source of news stories about weird and interesting things, some technology-based and some not. Check it out.
